Safety On Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 May 2026

Safety On helps people share safety information with trusted contacts, start Safety On trips, receive guardian alerts, and use My Circle location sharing. This Privacy Policy explains what information Safety On collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and how we protect it.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to people who use Safety On, including walkers, guardians, Circle members, people invited to join a Circle, and visitors to our website.

If you do not agree with this policy, do not use Safety On.

  • member names and phone numbers;
  • live sharing status;
  • latest shared location snapshot where location sharing is enabled.

Safety On currently uses the latest live location snapshot for My Circle sharing. Full movement history for Circle members is not part of the current live feature unless and until a future history feature is built and separately explained with privacy and retention controls.

Location information:

When you give location permission, Safety On may collect and process precise location information to show your live location to approved Circle members, support Safety On trip protection, send useful location information to guardians during alerts, and keep location sharing working while the app is open or, where permission is granted, in the background.

You can change location permission in your device settings. If you turn location off, some Safety On and My Circle features may not work properly.

Contacts and invitations:

If you choose to use contacts or invite people, Safety On may process names, phone numbers, email addresses, invite links, invite codes, and invitation status. Safety On uses free device sharing paths where possible for invitations.

Payment and subscription information:

If you buy Safety On Plus, Premium, or other paid features, payment is handled by Stripe. Safety On may receive and store subscription status, product selected, plan level, Stripe customer ID, Stripe subscription ID, checkout session records, payment status, and billing event records. Safety On does not store your full card number or card security code.

Technical and security information:

  • device and app information;
  • push notification tokens;
  • authentication and session state;
  • server logs;
  • IP address and request metadata;
  • error, diagnostic and security logs;
  • records needed to prevent fraud, protect accounts and keep the service reliable.

3. How we use information

  • provide Safety On trips and missed-check-in protection;
  • send Guardian App Alerts and paid escalation steps where enabled;
  • show live location to approved Circle members when location sharing is enabled;

4. Who information is shared with

We share information only where needed to provide Safety On, support the user's choices, or meet legal and security requirements.

Trusted guardians: when you add guardians or start a Safety On trip, relevant trip, alert and location information may be shared with those guardians so they can respond.

Circle members: when you join or create a Circle and enable sharing, relevant profile, Circle membership and live location information may be visible to approved Circle members.

Payment provider: we use Stripe to process payments, manage subscriptions, and provide hosted checkout and subscription-management pages. Stripe may process payment, billing, fraud-prevention and subscription information under its own terms and privacy policy. Safety On does not store full card numbers or card security codes.

Notification, authentication and infrastructure providers: we may use providers such as Firebase or Google, Expo push notification services, email delivery services, hosting providers, database providers, and other technical service providers to operate Safety On.

Legal, safety and security: we may disclose information if required by law, to protect users, to prevent fraud or misuse, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect Safety On's rights and security.

Business changes: if Safety On is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that process, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell precise location data. We do not use My Circle or Safety On trip location data to personalise third-party advertising.

7. Your data rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • access personal information;

8. Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed to provide Safety On, maintain security, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support billing records.

Some records, such as payment and subscription records, security logs and legal records, may need to be kept for longer. Location-sharing data should be kept only for as long as needed for the feature being provided. If future Circle movement history is added, Safety On should define clear retention and deletion rules before launch.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information, including HTTPS or TLS in transit, authenticated access for protected backend routes, trusted service providers, and access controls around systems that store personal information.

No app, website or internet service can guarantee perfect security. Users should protect their devices, email accounts and sign-in links.

10. Children and family use

Safety On is designed for personal safety and family or friend coordination. If a user is under the age required by local law to consent to data processing, a parent or legal guardian must provide consent and supervise use. We do not knowingly collect information from children where consent is required and has not been provided.

11. International transfers

Safety On and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Safety On changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the app, website or other suitable means.
